MS Dhoni offers prayers at Ranchi’s Deori temple ahead of Australia ODIs

Before flying to Australia, MS Dhoni visited Ranchi’s iconic Deori temple to seek blessings ahead of an important series.MS Dhoni, who was excluded from India’s Twenty20 squads for series against the West Indies and Australia last year, has also been recalled to the side for a T20 series in New Zealand. Dhoni will also be part of the ODI side in New Zealand where India will play five matches.Dhoni’s form in 2018 had been a cause of concern for the team management given he remains an important part of the Indian team setup for the ICC World Cup in England and Wales later this year.2018 was Dhoni’s worst year in international cricket since he sensationally announced his arrival in 2005. In 20 matches last year, Dhoni managed to score only 275 runs with a highest score of 42 not out.Dhoni has only a handful of ODIs left to prove his doubters wrong before India decide on their core group for the 2019 ICC World Cup.Dhoni retired from Test cricket in December 2014 and stepped down as India’s shorter formats captain in January 2017.
